CHAPTER 6

 The Long Winter

Clinton and Isabella left Ireland and returned home to start to sort out their Engagement Party and their wedding and also to look for a house as they wanted to set up home together.

Clinton also had the added worry of his mothers divorce from Curtis James-Rowe to think about, his mother’s case provisionally set for 10^th December around the time Clinton and Isabella had planned to have their engagement party.

Clinton was also getting himself ready to go back to school to do his A levels and hopefully get good enough marks to go to university.

Chelsea went for another appointment with Miss Middleton-Roberts this time she was going on her own without Oliver Kennedy ….

Chelsea was shown into Miss Middleton-Roberts office by her secretary ….

“Good morning Chelsea how are you doing, this sunshiny day” asked Miss Middleton-Roberts ….

“I’m doing fine thank you” replied Chelsea ….

“Well Chelsea as you know we have a provisional date for the pre-trial hearing, we will file for divorce on the grounds of unreasonable behavior” replied Miss Middleton-Roberts ….

“Why not battery” asked Chelsea ….

 “Well that alone would not stand up in a court of Law and unreasonable behavior will, under fact b) Unreasonable behaviour

Your husband or wife has behaved in such a way that you cannot reasonably be expected to live with him or her. This covers all sorts of bad behaviour. You need to think about the main things that have made your husband or wife difficult to live with. These are summed up in the petition (the application for divorce) in a few short paragraphs. It is best not to get emotional and vindictive as this could hamper future negotiations. A good solicitor would aim to send a draft copy to your spouse's solicitor for agreement.

As with adultery, you cannot rely on single events that took place more than six months before you file your petition, if you have lived together since then unless previous incidents have occurred. “Replied Miss Middleton-Roberts ….

 “And this will” asked Chelsea ….

“Yes it will” Replied Miss Middleton-Roberts ….

 “Good let’s do it” replied Chelsea …..

“Right then I will need a statement from you if you don’t mind, but I won’t be able to do it today but if you want to make an appointment on the way out with my secretary we will fit you in at the end of the week” Replied Miss Middleton-Robert

“What type of statement have I got to give you” asked Chelsea ….

“Just a statement of what your marriage was like and how your husband physically and mentally abused you and please I want every sordid detail, so it would be a good idea for you to write it down before dictating it to me as I feel it would be very helpful for both of us” relied Miss Middleton-Roberts….

“Ok I shall do that for you, thanks for seeing me today” replied Chelsea….

“That’s fine and please don’t forget to make an appointment on your way out” replied Miss Middleton-Roberts ….

Clinton was at his grandparents’ house getting his school stuff ready for the following day’s start of the school term ….

Isabella meanwhile was looking forward to starting her new job at her mother’s hair dressing salon in the centre of town, she took the job to help save for a deposit on a house or a flat as she and Clinton wanted to set up home together….

As the winter wore on and the nights started to draw in Clinton and Isabella had enough money for them to put down a deposit and were able to rent a house with Clinton using the Money he had in an account that his father had asked his grandmother to set up for him, the remainder of the money in the account would be used for Clinton to go to university ….

This was an account that only Clinton and his Grandmother knew about but only his grandmother knew where the money came from and Clinton never really ask about it but the truth would come out one day ….

Clinton and Isabella settled into their new home and Christmas was only a couple of weeks away, they had plans to try for a baby but financial constraints made that an impossibility, but twelve months down the line things could change ….

Clinton was studying hard and his plans to go to university were now becoming a dream as he done well in his Christmas exams and had the marks he would need to enter university if he were to go at that time but the main exams in the summer would be the big ones …..

Clinton was also looking forward to his first full winter of indoor nets and hopefully a full season of Cricket with the Wanderers ….

Isabella was enjoying her new job at her mother’s salon and was becoming quite a star as nearly everyone wanted her to do their nails and the tips were  good she also decided to go to college once a week to qualify as a hair dresser to further improve her earning potential ….

Christmas came and went with Clinton and Isabella enjoying their first Christmas together in their new house and on Boxing Day they threw a party for their family and friends from work and cricket ….

On New Year’s Eve Thomas and Thompson family went to a local hotel where The Wanderers threw their, annual New Year’s Eve party and a good time was had by all and the year ahead would be a memorable for Clinton and Isabella in more ways than one ….

Chelsea and Oliver Kennedy had started to see more and more of each other and their romance had started to blossom, they had started to go out for meals and to the cinema and were enjoying each other’s company ….

As the clock struck mid-night and the fireworks had started Chelsea and Oliver were stood hand in hand, watching the fireworks, Oliver Kennedy turned to Chelsea looked into her eyes and said ….

“Chelsea Thompson I should have done this years ago, will you give me the pleasure of being the first missus Kennedy”

With a look of shock on her face Chelsea replied “Thank you Oliver, but It would not be appropriate to do this just at this moment in time, for my sake and for that of my children and I need to think whether or not I would like after what has happened to me with Curtis, but thank you handsome anyway”

“Well the offer will always be there for you princess, but how would you feel about you and the twins moving in with me” replied Oliver

“Well Oliver that would be great and the answer is yes and it will take a bit of pressure off mum and dad” Chelsea replied …..

“Well that’s sorted the sooner the better” Replied Oliver ….

“Yes Oliver but now for a few weeks as I have the preliminary divorce hearing and then we will do it, If that is ok with you”  Chelsea replied ….

“That will be fine with me Chelsea I only wants what is best for you and the children, as you all deserve happy as you are all great people your whole family so yes we can wait, I have waited twenty years so another few weeks won’t hurt” replied Oliver ….

With that Chelsea and Oliver looked at each other embraced and started to kiss each other under the moonlight with the New Year fireworks going off at the same time ….

At another part of the hotel Clinton and Isabella were also kissing under the New Year fireworks and moonlight and Clinton turned to Isabella and said

“Isabella you have made me the happiest man alive and us living together makes it complete at the moment but the one thing we are missing is a baby, what do you say about trying for one”

Isabella looked Clinton in the eye and said “ Clinton that would be great but we are not earning very much between us and I don’t think the time is right yet but we will have a look at it in three to six months if that is ok with you my charming prince”

“Isabella my princess that would be fine and I can understand where you are coming from” replied Clinton …..

With that Clinton looked Isabella in the eyes and kissed her passionately and they both looked at each other and said

 “I LOVE YOU”

As everybody moved back into the main hall for the party to continue Nathaniel Thomas got up on stage and made an announcement …..

“Thank you for all coming tonight it was a great year last year and as a thank you for all your efforts I am proud to announce that on April 20^th

We will be taking a pre-season tour to Barbados to play a few local sides and the trip will be part paid for by myself and the club, with wives and girlfriends also being allowed on this trip”

A loud applause and cheers ringing out from the main hall ….

You see Nathaniel Thomas was a very wealthy man a multi-millionaire he was a property developer and had properties in Spain, France, Italy and Germany as well as owning an Edwardian Hotel in the north of Scotland.

Nathaniel Thomas thought that after the season the Wanderers had, had he thought a nice pre-season trip to Barbados was worth the expense and a reward for such a good season and the preparation they would get for the new season would be invaluable and would be good for team moral.

Winter nets were due to start in early February and Clinton was really looking forward to having a full winter of pre-season nets and his first full season for The Wanderers.

Clinton carried on in the winter nets were he had left off the season before, hooking and pulling the ball with some class and some panache.

Clintons bowling was also coming on leaps and bounds and his top spinner was very hard to read and a few of The wanderers batsmen were undone by it and the speed it was coming onto the bat with some zip.

Isabella was also enjoying her winter as she had taken up kick boxing and had started to produce a very nice shapely body, not that her body was not shapely, but the muscles she was producing made her even more a sight for sore eyes and even more sexier in Clintons eyes and once a week they would both go for a jog with their pet dog a great Dane called tickle, Clinton and Isabella also went swimming twice a week.

The fitness regime they were both into was beginning to show on Clinton as well as Isabella, who had lost about a stone in weight and had started to become more muscular himself, with a six pack starting to form.…
